Project Validation
External Feedback
During a simulated interview as part of this module, I received the following feedback:
“Clear job role and answered questions well. Good to see detail and understanding in your limitations, expectations and plans to improve. Very honest accounts and examples have been shown. You sound very switched on to what is required. Have you got any work experience that would help with these skills also? Volunteering, part-time job? I wish you every success in your future career.”
Response to Feedback
This feedback reinforced my understanding of the skills required to pursue a career in architecture, particularly in relation to both technical ability and professional development. In Assessment 1, I identified key areas for improvement such as proficiency in software like Revit, understanding of UK planning policy and building regulations, material and construction awareness, and improving my 3D spatial thinking.
The feedback highlighted the importance of gaining practical experience alongside developing these skills. In response, I was thinking about my current part-time role as a chef in a sushi store. Although it isn't directly related to architecture, this role has strengthened my transferable skills such as teamwork, time management, communication, and the ability to work under pressure, which are essential within an architectural studio environment.
Since I have recently secured a volunteering position with the Sustainable Conservation Trust. This opportunity will allow me to continue to develop those skills such as site analysis, contextual understanding, and environmental awareness, which are key aspects of architectural practice. It will also help me bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application.
I will continue to actively seek out further work experience opportunities within the architecture field during the summe break in order to strengthen my practical skills and industry understanding. I will also use both my current part-time role and my volunteering position with the Sustainable Conservation Trust to continue developing key transferable skills such as teamwork, communication, and time management.
I hope to apply and refine my technical abilities, particularly in areas such as CAD software, site analysis, and design development, through both academic projects and real-world experiences. By consistently building on these opportunities, I will fully build my confidence and readiness for a professional role as an Architectural Assistant.
